Sustainability through Technology

Protecting the environment and taking care of our planet is a team effort. That’s why we apply our ESG philosophy to our clients, helping them become more profitable but also reducing their impact on the planet. 

For example, JDE Peet’s, an American-Dutch company that owns beverage brands, helps millions worldwide have a cup of coffee every morning. However, that was not enough for them. When they decided to reduce their carbon footprint across hundreds of markets, they turned to EPAM for assistance. The goal was to achieve a net-zero target by 2050, and our data experts rolled up their sleeves and started working toward this mission. 

We used Azure technology to help JDE Peet’s effectively leverage analytics to truly integrate this objective into their everyday activities and obtain high-level and granular information that empowered them to continue to work toward their goals of becoming a fully green company.

Moreover, EPAM is working closely with Salesforce to create a “climate first” approach and implement a Net Zero Cloud that will allow the ability to create a customized solution for their business needs and reduce their impact on the planet. We do this by pairing our technological proficiency with our vast knowledge of environmental sciences to navigate risks and get closer to a carbon-neutral operation.

The Extra Mile 

To be a company that takes a true 360° approach to sustainability, we extended our efforts beyond the screen and into our communities. Our EPAMers in Latin America are a notable example of this.  

More than 160 regional volunteers teamed up to make a difference in the community by sponsoring and participating in events that empower thousands of children to get started in the world of technology, such as promoting STEM learning alongside FIRST Lego League. They also work towards creating gender equality by being a crucial part of projects such as Technovation, She is Digital, Java 4 Kids and other programs designed to empower girls and women. 

Of course, we also improve the communities surrounding our offices. That is why our team in Mexico has joined various NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) across all sectors of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). Currently, the team is participating in a range of activities, from planting trees in different areas around town to working on campaigns designed to preserve Indigenous plants or reduce plastic consumption.
