Pablo Fernandez is a Lead Software Engineer and Architect at EPAM who works as part of our Advanced Technologies practice. Not only that but with more than nine years of experience at the company, he can proudly say that he’s one of the founding members of EPAM Mexico and has been a crucial part in turning the company from a newcomer in the tech scene, to an established partner and trusted advisor for local and global businesses.
The journey begins
A graduate of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, Pablo has spent the past two decades becoming a stalwart figure in the tech world.
He is a true creative and revolutionary in software development. Throughout his career, he has created all sorts of tools, from project management software to procurement and sales solutions that empower teams and optimize operations. This brilliant and broad set of skills caught EPAM’s eyes and made him an ideal member of that inaugural team of EPAMers in Mexico.
Technical projects lead the professional path
His journey at EPAM has taken Pablo through a variety of projects and roles, from a Senior Software Developer dedicated to developing REST and Spring Services for the Entertainment and TV industry to a team leader whose main goal was to help other EPAMers get certified in the technologies they need to thrive and succeed in the modern and ever-changing IT landscape. He’s even created life-saving solutions that ensure people get the support and care they need after a car crash, helping medical facilities and other relevant parties get the data they need for the complete picture behind an accident and give people the best treatment possible.
However, what makes him different from any other engineer is his holistic approach toward digitalization, which makes him an ideal person to be part of our team of architects and, indeed, pave the way for the future of enterprise software.
Covering all the bases
When asked about one of the projects he was involved in, Pablo gave us an interesting picture of how he works and how he helps companies obtain not just what they need today but a complete suite of solutions that will make them “future-proof” and prepare them to overcome challenges they haven’t even considered yet.
For example, one of his clients had a solution using Java, Kubernetes, and Docker, which was challenging to maintain and incredibly hard to expand without serious issues. Pablo and his team decided to create a complete solution, not only preparing a set of templates and processes to fix all the problems with their current infrastructure but also creating something entirely new using both AWS and GCP and finally bringing it all together to create something that allows the client to get the full benefit of the Cloud.
It's best to start small and take calculated risks; that’s why Pablo and his team took the time to create multiple proofs of concept to ensure that all loads were handled correctly and that the performance, efficiency and reliability of everything they created were second to none. However, the best tech solution possible is not the only thing a company needs to succeed. Knowing this, Pablo’s next step in this journey was to train people, help them and empower them to become true experts in the world of Amazon Web Services with the right courses and even the development of small applications designed to test their knowledge and skills, ensuring they were the best in the business.
The client’s solution was created using a myriad of technologies that included Lambda, DynamoDB, CloudFront, S3, Kinesis, Athena and plenty more to complete a dedicated tech stack designed for flexibility and, more importantly, for results, helping the client go beyond what they thought was possible and continue to grow in their field. In the process, Pablo not only helped our client get what they needed, but he was crucial in developing the skills and abilities of all his teammates that made it all possible
Since then, Pablo has moved to a new project and is getting ready to continue being on the frontlines of digital transformation. He can say that he’s proud to be an EPAMer.
