Malaga has What it Takes to Become the Silicon Valley of Europe
Ievgen Berezenko, managing director of EPAM in Spain, explains how this technology company already has more than 1,000 employees in Malaga—many of them coming from Russia or Ukraine due to the war- and stresses that there are significant problems in accessing housing.
Ievgen Berezenko is Ukrainian and arrived in Malaga a year and a half ago to run the office that the technology multinational EPAM has in the city, which already has more than 1,000 employees.
We meet at the company's headquarters, located on Avenida Imperio Argentina. Upon entering, there is an international atmosphere, several workers converse in English while typing on their computers and a large world map has little flags pinned to various countries.
Berezenko welcomes us with a big smile, shows us the facilities and we do the interview in his small office. Despite having been in Spain for such a short time, his high level of Spanish is surprising. "I still have to improve it," he says humbly.

Málaga tiene todo lo que se necesita para ser el Silicon Valley de Europa
Ievgen Berezenko, director general de EPAM en España, explica cómo esta empresa tecnológica ya cuenta con más de 1.000 empleados en Málaga -muchos de ellos procedentes de Rusia o Ucrania por la guerra- y subraya que hay problemas importantes para acceder a una vivienda.
Ievgen Berezenko es ucraniano y llegó a Málaga hace un año y medio para dirigir la oficina que la multinacional tecnológica EPAM tiene en la ciudad, que ya cuenta con más de 1.000 empleados.
Nos reunimos en la sede de la compañía, ubicada en la Avenida Imperio Argentina. Al entrar, se respira un ambiente internacional, varios trabajadores conversan en inglés mientras escriben en sus ordenadores y un amplio mapa mundial tiene banderitas clavadas sobre varios países.
Berezenko nos recibe con una gran sonrisa, nos muestra las instalaciones y hacemos la entrevista en su pequeño despacho. Pese a llevar tan poco tiempo en España es sorprendente su gran nivel de español. “Tengo todavía que mejorarlo”, dice humilde.
