Technical Consultant Remote

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with users to build workflows and tailor code for HPC environments, complying with scheduler policies and software standards
• Evaluate user code to pinpoint optimization opportunities, increasing runtime efficiency and reducing resource demands for cluster submissions
• Deliver solutions for flagged jobs alongside users, offering technical assistance to tackle challenges
• Create documentation highlighting common workflows, challenges, and best practices to boost cluster utilization in partnership with computational science teams
• Educate users on genomics, cryo-EM, and molecular dynamics workflows commonly integrated into biotech/pharma R&D initiatives
• Facilitate effective HPC system use by sharing expertise in Linux, Python, and R to address computational needs
• Serve as a technical bridge for incorporating emerging technologies like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Cuda programming into workflows
• Provide insights to enhance familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS
• Collaborate with globally dispersed teams to ensure consistent communication and timely technical solutions
• Proactively identify improvement opportunities in user workflows and HPC system performance

Requirements

• Background in designing workflows and coding for HPC systems with at least 10 years of experience
• Expert understanding of Linux operating systems alongside proficiency in Python and R
• Competency in Cuda programming, TensorFlow, and PyTorch, demonstrating expertise in deep learning and HPC applications
• Familiarity with AWS cloud computing services and flexibility to integrate cloud-driven solutions with HPC workflows
• Knowledge of drug development workflows involving genomics, cryo-EM, and molecular dynamics, ideally within biotech or pharma industries
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to users at varied expertise levels
• Capability to work collaboratively, fostering global team productivity and effective user communication

Nice to have

• Background in assisting computational biology teams within biotech or pharma industries
• Contributions to open-source HPC or DevOps tools relevant to scientific research
• Familiarity with advanced data visualization frameworks designed for scientific computing
• Qualifications in cloud-native HPC solutions or containerization technologies tailored to DevOps processes
