Senior Kafka Engineer Description
Join our innovative team as a Senior Kafka Engineer and contribute to managing our extensive Kafka platform. You will play a crucial role in optimizing performance, enhancing security, and advancing our system's features. The Kafka Platform team is also involved in supporting PagerDuty and Uptrends SaaS, including automating these platforms' support. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with diverse teams and technologies, ensuring a dynamic and rewarding work environment.
This position offers hybrid setup with the flexibility to work from any location in Lithuania, whether it's your home or our dynamic offices in Vilnius and Kaunas.

Responsibilities
- Provision and install new Kafka clusters, including their support components
- Conduct regular monitoring for optimal functionality and health of the Kafka platform and its data pipelines
- Resolve issues pertaining to data pipelines, network complications, and software bugs
- Fine-tune performance parameters of Kafka components
- Strategically manage cost-efficiency and performance of Kafka clusters
- Lead the upgrade processes of the Kafka platform, handling everything from planning and testing to final implementation
- Secure the Kafka platform through robust management of encryption and access controls
- Maintain thorough backup protocols and disaster recovery procedures, ensuring platform robustness
- Forecast growth and manage the scaling of the Kafka platform accurately
- Document procedures, configurations, and issue resolutions, and share knowledge with the team
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience in a relevant field
- Proven experience in the implementation and maintenance of Confluent Platform
- Experience in automating processes and maintaining automated scripts
- Understanding of networking, and capability to coordinate with different teams including the Networking team, and CICD team, among others
- Advanced knowledge of Kafka Confluent Stack, Terraform, HELM Kubernetes/Containers, Docker, and Python/Shell scripting
- Intermediate proficiency in Cloud GCP, Cloud AWS, Jenkins, Linux administration, PagerDuty, and Uptrends
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities for complex technical issues
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- English proficiency at a B2+ level
Nice to have
- Relevant certifications (such as Confluent Certified Developer or Administrator for Apache Kafka) would be an advantage

Salary range €3.5K-€5.5K gross, based on your experience and interview results.
