Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS) Description

Do you have a strong technical background in various areas of modern technology stacks with a focus on deployments into cloud? Are you a highly motivated self-directed technical person with practical experience delivering digital platforms? Do you understand fundamental DevOps practices and culture and are ideally also experienced in Agile methodology and popular Agile frameworks, such as Scrum and Kanban?

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage CI/CD process for different types of application and automate as many processes as possible under the guidance of seniors
  • Manage and support customer cloud environments
  • Help advise customers on technical aspects of installation, sizing, scaling
  • Contribute to the support development teams in technical questions of continuous integration and continuous delivery
  • Set up monitoring and optimise for cost and performance under the guidance of seniors
  • Manage the full release and support process following defined processes

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting cloud-based production systems in Windows or Linux OS
  • Cloud Formation / Terraform IaC, setup automation for resources provisioning (AWSCLI)
  • Amazon Web Service experience (EC2, RDS, VPC, S3, Lambda, Route 53, IAM, ELB)
  • Some understanding of load balancers, DNS, virtual networks, and firewalls in relation to cloud computing
  • Configure monitoring (performance metrics, CloudWatch, CloudTrail)
  • SNS / SQS / Messaging Services
  • AWS IAM basics: Authentication and Implementation of Role Based Access Control
  • Develop, build, and manage CI/CD pipelines using modern tool sets for both application and infrastructure as code, including: automated build and release pipelines, code quality checks, unit, integration, and functional tests integrated into pipeline, PowerShell scripting for custom tasks automation
  • Understanding of GIT usage and branching practices
  • Some experience of Agile delivery (e.g. Scrum or Kanban) as part of a team
  • Able to document the work you are delivering
  • Customer-oriented, diligent, proactive, and focused on achieving customer’s business objectives
  • Able to successfully collaborate with fellow team members
  • B2+ English level proficiency

Nice to have

  • Cloud Native Development (.NET, Python, Java, Groovy, Bash, YAML)
  • Relative cloud certifications
  • Proficiency with multiple CI/CD tools (eg Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Octopus, Ansible, Terraform)
  • Knowledge of both Windows and Linux OS
  • Skills in a second cloud platform (eg AWS/GCP)
