Lead DevOps Engineer Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Lead DevOps Engineer with expertise in High-Performance Computing (HPC) to optimize complex workflows and resource usage, supporting cutting-edge biotech and pharma R&D.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary users to design workflows and adapt code for HPC environments, ensuring compliance with scheduler policies and software standards
  • Analyze user-submitted code for optimization opportunities to improve runtime efficiency and resource utilization
  • Partner with users to resolve flagged jobs, providing hands-on troubleshooting and comprehensive technical assistance
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation on workflows, challenges, and best practices to help computational teams maximize HPC system utilization
  • Share knowledge and provide training on genomics, cryo-EM, and molecular dynamics workflows integral to biotech and pharma research
  • Provide expertise in Linux, Python, and R to support diverse computational demands and enhance HPC efficiency
  • Integrate advanced technologies such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Cuda programming into workflows to support deep learning applications
  • Deliver strategic guidance for using cloud platforms like AWS to complement HPC environments
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure smooth communication and timely delivery of technical solutions
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to user workflows and HPC system performance

Requirements

  • Background in developing workflows and optimizing code for HPC environments with at least 5 years of related experience
  • Expertise in Linux operating systems, along with proficiency in Python and R for scientific programming and automation
  • Competency in TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Cuda programming, showcasing skills in incorporating deep learning frameworks into computational workflows
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services and the flexibility to hybridize HPC workflows using cloud-driven solutions
  • Knowledge of biotech or pharma workflows, including genomics, cryo-EM, and molecular dynamics, with a focus on accelerating drug development processes
  • Proven skills in communicating complex technical concepts to users of varying technical expertise
  • Track record of effective collaboration across globally distributed teams to solve challenging computational issues

Nice to have

  • Background in supporting computational biology or drug discovery research in biotech or pharma industries
  • Contributions to open-source tools designed for HPC or DevOps practices within scientific contexts
  • Familiarity with scientific visualization frameworks specifically tailored for computational life sciences
  • Qualifications in advanced containerization or cloud-native HPC technologies for DevOps optimization
