Senior Mainframe Support Engineer Description

We are looking for a Mainframe Support Engineer to join a leading banking client in Zürich, Switzerland. We offer a hybrid work model with a mix of remote and on-site work in Zürich.

Responsibilities
- Work as part of the Mainframe Online Services team with expertise in CICS and MQ subsystems and related products
- Provide 2nd-level support and assistance to application teams on CICS/MQ issues
- Perform incident and problem management for CICS/MQ components while managing changes using IPCM
- Automate and optimize processes to maximize system throughput and service reliability
- Actively contribute to the Agile environment with a transformation-oriented mindset
- Enhance infrastructure reliability, adopting Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles
- Take proactive measures to eliminate inefficiencies and enable automation
Requirements
- Strong skills in z/OS System Components, TSO, ISPF and JCL
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as REXX and/or Python
- Expertise in CICS and IBM MQ, including Cluster and QSG
- Basic knowledge of DB2 Plans, Packages and SQL Statements
- Understanding of LDAP and USS on IBM Mainframe
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced situations
- Preparedness to be part of a 24/7 on-call rotation
- Proficient communication skills in English are a must, while knowledge of the German language is a significant advantage
Nice to have
- Familiarity with database systems and advanced SQL knowledge
- A strong foundation in common IT concepts, including Microsoft Office
