Senior Systems Engineer Description
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team.
This role requires a strong background in advanced Linux concepts and operating system principles alongside expertise in managing RStudio Workbench, Connect, and Package Manager installations. The ideal candidate will possess the skill set to enhance the operational efficiency of our R Suite Environment while collaborating effectively with existing service team members.

Responsibilities
- Drive automation projects to streamline package upgrades across the R Suite Environment
- Handle administration and troubleshooting of R Studio installations and associated environments
- Cooperate with our current L2/L3 service teams in resolving open problems and incidents
- Support the enhancement of system configurations and operational processes
- Sustain a high-availability infrastructure by regularly reviewing and optimizing server performance
- Mentoring junior DevOps team members and sharing technical expertise
- Maintain up-to-date documentation related to system configuration, processes, and service records
- Ensure system security through effective management of user access controls and compliance protocols
- Monitor system performance and implement appropriate optimizations
- Innovate and propose new technologies or tools for improved system management and operations
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a DevOps or SysAdmin role
- Proficiency in Linux concepts and operating systems
- Background in Python and application support
- Experience with R Data Science Ecosystem
- Knowledge of installation, upgrade, and patching of RStudio platforms including Workbench, Connect, and Package Manager
- Skills in initiating and leading automation projects
- Understanding of system performance monitoring and optimization techniques
- Capability to troubleshoot complex system issues
- Competency in collaborating with multi-level service teams
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Kubernetes
- Experience with Easybuild
- Understanding of container solutions utilized both on-premises and in the cloud
